SeniorCare Scam

taken from the April/May Tricom Crime Reporter

Winnebago County Sheriffs Office Senior citizens are complaining that they are
getting suspicious calls about SeniorCare, Wisconsin's new prescription drug assistance
program for low-income seniors. "No one should be calling and offering to come to your home to help you sign up," says Phyllis Dube, Secretary of the Dept. of Health and Family
Services which administers SeniorCare. "If you want to signup for information or are homebound and in need of assistance, you can call the SeniorCare toll free hotline:
1-800-657-2038." What should you do if someone calls you about signing up for SeniorCare? Ask for the person's name and phone number and the organization that he/she represents. Do NOT make an appointment or allow the person into your home. Do NOT give the person any personal identification information, such as social security number, bank account number, etc.
